Dear shipmate, I am writing you in reference to your service on active duty with the Navy. If you are looking for an extra income each month or just miss the camaraderie of your past experience, you may be qualified to affiliate in the Navy Reserve. So I don’t waste your time I will only show you the “black and white” of your commitment to the Reserve.

Pros

- Monthly pay (based on your rank and time in service)

- Health insurance (option to cover all dependents)

- Travel (pick orders for your 2 weeks annual training to and Navy base, even overseas)

- Network (meet navy veterans who are working in many diverse industries throughout the Houston area)

- Experience (training schools are offered throughout the year depending on the budget)

- Retirement (complete the remaining time toward 20 years in the Reserve)

- Bonus (some rates have bonuses up to $20,000/lump sum)

- Security (you will have a new ID card giving you access to all military bases and commissaries around the world.

- Advancement (in the Reserve your chances to advance in your rate are far better than active duty)

- Free Toll (just a perk in Houston, show your Navy ID card at the toll booth and get a free pass)

- Keep your current job or stay in school (no need to give anything up to join the Reserve, you are also protected upon any mobilizations)

Cons

- Drill 2 days per month (drills can be rescheduled or dismissed) Sat 0700-1600, Sun 0700-1600.

- Depending on your rate and the needs of the military you can be recalled (Navy has had the lowest recall push of all the branches)

- Miss some football games on Sunday

- Miss church one Sunday

- Regret not joining when you turn 40, 50, or even 60.

This is it, in black and white. If you don’t believe it just call me and we’ll get together on a drill weekend here and I’ll prove it to you.

Remember, I also served active duty for 4 years. I got out and did not want anything to do with the Navy. After 2 years of going to college, I gave it a shot and don’t regret it. NC1(SW) Patel call (281) 932-4802 for more information.
