Chief Building Official
$5,996 - $7,289 per month, plus excellent benefits
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced candidate to plan, organize, direct and coordinate the activities of the Dixon Building Division. This includes ensuring the enforcement of City building regulations, coordinating building activities with other departments, division and outside agencies, while providing highly complex assistance to the Community Development Director. The successful candidate will also provide proactive leadership over assigned supervisory, professional, technical and office support personnel. Position requires the equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional college coursework in public administration, planning, plan checking, and/or building inspections techniques, principles, and practices, as well as a Bachelor’s degree with major course work in public administration, business administration or a related field, are all highly desirable. Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in building inspection, building construction, plans examination, land development, or other related work, including two years of supervisory responsibility, plus possession of a Building, Plumbing, Mechanical or Electrical Inspector Certificate by the International Code Council (ICC) or other approved certifying organization, are also required.
