June 1 - August 10 - CALIFORNIA-Live-in Residential Summer Camp - Salary $220.per wk, room and board. Fantastic coastal mountain location in the Santa Cruz Mountains of Northern California. Beautiful rustic camp for children ages 5 thru adult w/developmental disabilities near Santa Cruz, California. Cabins, art center, huge pool, activity center, sports, nature areas. 60 miles from San Francisco 15 minutes from Pacific Ocean Beaches. Traditional Main Camp program, Outdoor Adventure Camp, Travel Camp programs. (Wide range of disabilities such as Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, ADHD, emotional impairments).
Job Qualifications
Age 18+. Some experience with children, (paid or volunteer),
Patience, mature judgment, sense of humor
Ability to lead outdoor recreational activities with children/adults who have disabilities.
Work well with others including international staff
Good job references
Able to have clean background check.
Job Description - CO-ED CAMP. Extensive Training provided. Live-in with campers, (small cabin groups 6-7)with 3 to 4 Counselors. Plan, supervise, exciting outdoor recreational activities, both Traditional and Outdoor Adventure type programs. Swimming, arts, crafts, music, sports, (bocce ball, soccer, basketball, softball etc.), drama, nature hikes, games, talent shows, cheer leading team, tent camping, field trips, backpacking treks and much more. Mentor, guide campers, help with socialization, skill building, promoting independence and self-esteem. Staff assists campers with personal care based on individual needs, could include dressing, feeding, toileting certain campers. EXCELLENT experience for future teachers, pre-med students, psych majors, social services, Occupational/Physical Therapy and human services.
